-

TACLOBAN CITY – Health authorities in Eastern Visayas said the dengue outbreak in Pambujan, Northern Samar is now under control.

As of Tuesday, Dr. Teogenes Baluma, regional director of the Department of Health, said the number of dengue patients had reached 628, 90 percent of them children below 14 years old, with three deaths.

“We have conducted fumigation in the four affected villages and all schools within the town proper,” Baluma told The STAR in a mobile phone interview.

Baluma and other officials of the DOH regional health office went to Pambujan, a fourth-class town 297 kilometers away from this city, last Monday and brought intravenous fluids and medicines.

The DOH regional office has recorded more than 800 dengue cases in the past seven months, with Leyte posting the highest number with 312. – Miriam Garcia Desacada
