2 hurt in Pampanga tornado

SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – At least two villagers were injured and 15 families lost their homes when a 20-minute tornado struck three communities in Candaba, Pampanga last Monday.

Senior Superintendent Keith Ernald Singian, provincial police director, cited reports identifying those injured as Ben Chu, a stay-in worker of a poultry farm, and a certain Erwin, 12.

Singian said the tornado destroyed at least 15 houses in the barangays of Tinejero, Talang and Dalayab.

Candaba Mayor Jerry Pelayo promised to provide the affected families with financial assistance to help them rebuild their houses.

Another tornado hit Barangay Calumpipay in Baliuag, Bulacan also last Monday afternoon, destroying at least 50 houses. – Ric Sapnu
