Airline bans Marine over bomb joke

BUTUAN CITY – A Marine, who hails from Reme­dios T. Romualdez, Agusan del Norte, can no longer board any Cebu Pacific flight at the city airport.

This, after Pfc. Jovane Mag-abo Ticano, who belongs to the 1st Marine Battalion based in Basilan, cracked a bomb joke while checking in his luggage for a Manila-bound flight last Friday.

Asked what his luggage contained, Ticano joked it had a grenade. Still, security personnel inspected it and found no explosive.

Ticano was eventually off-loaded, and Cebu Pacific, in an advisory to the aviation security office, said it was banning him from any of its flights here. – Ben Serrano
