CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Three days after a shabu laboratory was raided in Calapan City, police swooped down on another illegal facility in the Oriental Mindoro capital yesterday morning, authorities said.
Senior Superintendent Agrimero Cruz, provincial police director said the second laboratory in Barangay Communal also yielded chemicals as well as equipment capable of manufacturing an estimated 100 kilos of the illegal drug per day.
The shabu chemicals and equipment were found in an abandoned warehouse in the middle of a ricefield in Barangay Communal.
Cruz said no one was arrested during the raid, which yielded three hydrogenators, a boiler and four boxes of hydrochloric acid.
Last Saturday, joint elements of the Oriental Mindoro police, 409th Provincial Police Mobile Group and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) raided a shabu laboratory in Barangay Navotas, also in Calapan City, and seized chemicals that could produce P3.5 billion worth of high-grade shabu.
Chief Superintendent Napoleon Cachuela, Region 4-B police director, said, “We are still expecting more shabu labs to be discovered in the near future because of information continuously coming from our intelligence community.”
Cachuela said they are now tracking down three Chinese nationals who rented the two warehouses which housed the shabu labs.
