Bulusan alert level lowered

-

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) lowered yesterday the alert level around Mt. Bulusan in Sorsogon from 2 to 1 as the vol-cano’s seismic activities continued to decline.

“The decrease in monitored parameters reflects a decline in the volcano’s overall activity,” Phivolcs said in a bulletin.

The number of volcanic earthquakes recorded daily has gradually decreased, while ground deformation, based on a survey from June 19 to 21 on the vol-cano’s northeast and southeast flanks, has gone down, too.

Bulusan’s sulfur dioxide emissions were also consistently below the baseline value of 500 tons per day, the institute said.
