Ammo truck rams into bus; 2 dead, 14 injured

BALANGA CITY – Two persons were killed while 14 others were seriously injured when an ammunition delivery truck rammed into a Manila-bound passenger bus in Pilar, Bataan yesterday morning.

Senior Superintendent Odelon Ramoneda, Bataan police director, identified the fatalities as Filbert Essel and Gaspar Guerrero, driver and helper, respectively, of the Izusu Elf truck loaded with toolboxes to be delivered to the ammunition plant of the Department of National Defense in Barangay Lamao, Limay town.

The truck smashed into an airconditioned Bataan Transit bus traveling on the opposite direction near the Barangay Ala-uli Junction.

Seriously injured were bus driver Ronaldo Laurela, conductor Ferdinand Magasdao, bus passengers Luisa Rivera, Yolanda Laramog, Mario Gadayos, Carmelita Gadayos, Melvin Placio, Joaquin Vicente, and Mary Ann, Leonardo, Rommel, and Liza Mae, all surnamed De los Reyes, and Rady Sesio, and Romeo Servio, passengers of an L-300 van escorting the truck. – With Jaime Laude and Ric Sapnu
