-

TEHRAN (AFP) - Iran's top nuclear negotiator and the EU foreign policy chief will hold key talks on Thursday, the Iranian foreign ministry spokesman said, after earlier saying they had been postponed.

Iran's Ali Larijani and the European Union's Javier Solana are to meet for their second encounter in just over a month in a bid to break the deadlock over Iran's controversial nuclear programme.

"In the light of the latest agreement between Mr Larijani and Mr Solana, the date for the negotiations is Thursday, May 31," said foreign ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini in a statementy.

"The venue will be decided through their contacts," he added.
Earlier Hosseini had told reporters at his weekly news conference that the talks were postponed and no new date was confirmed.
