Cop chief sacked over jailbreak

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – A police station commander here was sacked following the escape of four inmates past midnight last Wednesday.
Senior Superintendent Vicente Bautista, city police chief, said he automatically relieved Chief Inspector Resty Balmores, chief of the Bula police station, and ordered a manhunt for the four inmates who sawed off the iron grills of their cell to escape, taking advantage of a two-hour power outage.
The escapees were identified as Teking Akmad Usman, 38; Carlos Besana, 34; Roberto Nadela; and Erwin Matarum.
