BAUNGON, Bukidnon – Supporters of controversial former Commission on Elections (Comelec) commissioner Virgilio Garcillano Jr. here are confident of his victory in the May 14 polls.
Garcillano is running for congressman in the first district. His supporters claim that the former poll official has the majority support of the eight municipalities under the first district.
This developed after a vice mayoralty contender who is the running mate of incumbent Vice Mayor Ardan Roa withdrew from race last April 8 to ensure Baungon town’s unity in supporting Garcillano, who is an independent candidate and a resident of this town.
Baigad’s withdrawal from the race paves the way of a single-handed candidacy of businessman Pedro "Adong" Roa-Alvarez who is running for vice mayor supported by local officials here.
Alvarez will be the running mate of mayoral candidate Ardan Roa, an ardent supporter of Garcillano.
Alvarez said he will prioritize Baungon’s infrastructure and road development project.
