CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – A militant leader was reported missing after armed men abducted her in Dasmariñas, Cavite last Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Senior Superintendent Fidel Posadas, Cavite police director, identified the victim as Lourdes Rubrico, 61, president of the Umaga Federation under the Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap of Cavite.
Reports said Rubrico, also known as Nanay Ode, was attending a pabasa in Barangay Sta. Cruz when at least six armed men seized and dragged her to a brown van with license plate XRR-428.
Police have yet to determine the motive behind the abduction. Posadas, however, told The STAR that it could be connected with the sale of lands in the province.
Meanwhile, Task Force Usig began its probe yesterday on the killing of two members of a peasant group in Cagayan – identified as Arthur Orpilla and Dionisio Battad – whose bodies were found floating in a river. – With Cecille Suerte Felipe
