CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – A hotel owned by a mayoral candidate in Tagaytay City was fired at by unidentified men Friday morning, police said.
Reports reaching Senior Superintendent Mark Edison Belarma, Region 4 chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), said the second floor of the Royal Park Hotel and Restaurant owned by Jocelyn Reyes Ricardo, mayoral bet of the Lakas-Christian, Muslim Democrats, was found riddled by bullets by one of the hotel’s staffers at about 7 a.m.
Ricardo’s office is located on the second floor of the hotel located in Barangay Silang, Crossing West. Police found nine bullet marks and four deformed slugs of an unknown caliber.
Belarma quoted Ricardo as claiming that the attack could be politically motivated, adding that several vehicles had also been seen driving around her residence at Tagaytay Heights in Barangay Kaybagal.
Belarma instructed the CIDG-Cavite office headed by Chief Inspector Danilo Morzo to dig deeper into the attack.
