Marawi City – A graduating law student from Cagayan de Oro City who was reported missing last week was found dead in Taraka, Lanao del Sur the other day by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Alex Cabornay, NBI executive officer, told the media here that the body of 26-year-old Xavier University graduating law student Tamtam Edpan, a native of Jasaan, Misamis Oriental, was found in a remote area in Taraka town.
The bullet-riddled body of Edpan was brought back to Cagayan de Oro City after his mother Marlyn confirmed that it was his son’s body.
Edpan was reported missing last week after he left for Valencia City, Bukidnon. His mother, who sent him P1,000 through an automated teller machine, said he did not answer her cellphone calls.
Edpan’s girlfriend, Charissa Akut, received a text message from the suspected kidnappers reportedly asking for an unspecified amount of money. She informed the mother of the victim who then sought the assistance of the NBI and other local executives in Cagayan de Oro City.
The NBI coordinated with authorities in Lanao del Sur and received information that the remains of a slain man was found in Taraka.
Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Vicente Emano vowed to pursue and identify the suspected kidnappers and bring them to justice.
