CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Six suspected members of a fake dollar syndicate were arrested in Tagaytay City Friday, three of them entrapped when they brought a P20,000 bribe in exchange for their colleagues’ release.
Acting on a tip, Superintendent Ferdinand Quirante, Tagaytay police chief, said his men intercepted Lorna Estores, 60; Violeta Caribal, 57; and Erickson Celestino, 35, at a checkpoint.
At the police station, Estores offered Quirante P20,000 in exchange for their freedom. Quirante agreed and let Estores call her business partners to deliver the money.
A few minutes later, the three other suspects, Crisanto Nazareno, Richard Solis, and Angelito Astores, arrived. They were collared after handing over the money to Quirante. – Arnell Ozaeta, Ed Amoroso
