Kidnapped teen freed in Laguna

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – A daughter of a Chinese-Filipino trader was freed by his kidnappers in front of the Lumban church in Laguna Sunday night, two days after she was snatched in Sta. Cruz, the provincial capitol.

Reports said the 12-year-old girl’s kidnappers had demanded P1-million ransom. Chief Inspector Romeo Balleros, public information officer of the Calabarzon police, said it was not clear if the victim’s parents shelled out the money.

The girl was seized along with her mother on their way home from school last Friday noon. The mother was later freed supposedly to raise the ransom. – Ed Amoroso
