TACLOBAN CITY – The police regional office here has formally charged Gandara Mayor Antonieto Cabueños before the Provincial Prosecution’s Office for illegal possession of firearms.
This was revealed by Chief Superintendent Eliseo dela Paz, PNP regional director, in an interview.
De la Paz said that aside from Cabueños, Samar First District Rep. Reynaldo Uy will also face criminal charges for alleged involvement in some killing incidents in his district.
The police, headed by Chief Superintendent Teodorido Lapuz IV, deputy regional director for administration and concurrent commander of the regional special operations group, and Senior Superintendent Doroteo Palconit, chief of PNP regional intelligence and investigation division, conducted a simultaneous raid Thursday at the houses of Uy and Cabueños.
Seized from Cabueños’ residence were 11 high-powered firearms, while none was found in the residence of Uy in Calbayog City because he was reportedly tipped off about the police raid in advance.
