Asean summit bikes to boost anti-car theft drive

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Traffic Management Group 9 (TMG) received police bikes that were used during the Asean Summit in Cebu last month.

This is expected to boost its anti-car theft drive.

Senior Superintendent Armenio Glodove, TMG9 director, said at least six units of 70 to 80 Honda 750cc police bikes were given to Western Mindanao, a known dumping area for smuggled and stolen vehicles. The other units were distributed to other TMG units across the country.

Glodove said policemen who will use the bikes were those trained and even served as guards during the summit.

"These additional units will be a big boost to our operations to run after criminals and those who are acquiring stolen vehicles," Glodove said.

He revealed that the police bikes immediately netted one Toyota MR II sports car that was apprehended for non-payment of importation tax.
