-
Two mild tectonic earthquakes shook North Cotabato and Antique yesterday but caused no damage and casualties, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

A 3.9 magnitude quake centered at 64 kilometers southwest of Malaybalay in Bukidnon occurred at 1:16 a.m. It was felt at Intensity 3 in President Roxas, Kabacan and Magpet towns, all in North Cotabato.

The second quake of magnitude 2.2 struck at 11:46 a.m. with its epicenter at 29 kilometers northeast of San Jose de Buenavista in Antique. It was felt at Intensity 3 in San Jose, Antique. There were no recorded aftershocks.

The Philippines sits on the "Pacific Ring of Fire" where continental plates meet, causing frequent seismic and volcanic activity.
