2 foreigners wanted for illegal drugs fall

COTABATO CITY — Police arrested two foreigners long wanted for big-scale drug smuggling, in the neighboring cities of Koronadal and Tacurong yesterday.

Chief Superintendent German Doria, Region 12 police director, said Taiwanese national Tsai Sen Huang was first arrested, after weeks of surveillance, in Koronadal City.

Doria said Tsai is wanted in his country for drug trafficking, based on information provided by Camp Crame and the immigration bureau.

Tsai was said to have been smuggling illegal drugs into Central Mindanao from Metro Manila for months now.

Tsai voluntarily yielded himself to a police team led by Superintendent Diosdado Bangeles and brought them to a hotel in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat where his cohort, known in the area as Rey Montero, had been staying.

Montero was stunned when policemen barged into his room at the Verdant Star Hotel. He also did not resist arrest.

Verdant’s owner, Eliezar Pande, said that although Montero’s name sounds Filipino, he cannot speak any local dialect and can even hardly communicate in English with the hotel employees. — With Ramil Bajo and Cecille Suerte Felipe
