Baguio police director Senior Superintendent Moises Guevarra said a case of indiscrimininate firing and malicious mischief was lodged against Police Officer 1 Belac Jr., a new graduate of the police training academy. Belac fired his service pistol at around 12:30 a.m. of Christmas Day at Gaerlan St., this city.
Guevarra said that while a certain Antonio Espiritu and his family were enjoying the Christmas revelries, Belac fired his gun at his house.
City Mobile Group policemen who responded to the scene after receiving complaints from Espiritu found 30 empty shells of 9mm pistol shells in the area and a deformed slug from the same caliber.
The young police officer, however, evaded arrest.
But at around 7 a.m. the same day, CMG policemen arrested Belac in his home and seized from him his emptied service Jericho pistol.
