Bishop’s car kills trike driver

BALANGA CITY — A 44-year-old driver was killed when the service car of Bataan Bishop Socrates Villegas smashed into his tricycle while trying to avoid a carabao crossing a road in Orani, Bataan Friday night.

Senior Superintendent Hernando Zafra, provincial police director, said the victim, Reynaldo Morales, was inside the tricycle parked on the highway’s shoulder, waiting for a passenger, when the incident happened at about 8:30 p.m.

Police said Villegas’ driver, Jonathan Gementiza, 54, tried to avoid hitting the carabao but instead sent the bishop’s Ford Lynx smashing into Morales’ tricycle. — Raffy Viray
