GenSan hotel owner, pal gunned down

- Ramil Bajo -
KORONADAL CITY — Two ski mask-wearing men shot dead a Chinese-Filipino businessman and his companion near the former’s residence in nearby General Santos City, police said.

Senior Superintendent Alfredo Toroctocon, General Santos City police chief, said Salvador Ong, 37, owner of King Valley Hotel in Barangay San Isidro, and his companion, Arnold Bactang, 36, died on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds.

The two were gunned down in front of Ong’s house at Manansala Subdivision in Barangay San Isidro at about 1:20 a.m. Friday.

Toroctocon said Ong was about to enter the gate of his house when the two men, armed with a 9-mm pistol and a caliber .45 pistol, attacked them.

After shooting the two, the assassins approached Ong and then stabbed him several times before fleeing toward a dimly portion of the subdivision.

Toroctocon said Ong and Bactang had come from a birthday party.

He said his probers have leads in the case but he refused to reveal them pending further investigation.

He said they would invite some people, who they believe could shed light on the killing.

Investigation showed that Ong had received death threats after his younger brother Nelson was killed by robbers a few months ago.
