Sarangani provincial worker yields shabu

- John Unson -
COTABATO CITY — Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested yesterday an alleged employee of the Sarangani provincial government while he was about to leave this city with some P10,000 worth of shabu procured from a supplier here.

Chief Inspector Ramon Espero, PDEA deputy director in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, said they were verifying if the suspect, Alex Lamaran, really works in the budget office of the Sarangani provincial government.

"(Sarangani) Gov. (Rene Miguel) Dominguez is known to the PDEA as a very respectable person and a staunch supporter of the government’s anti-illegal drug campaign. He will surely punish this Mr. Lamaran if he is really an employee of the Sarangani provincial government," he said.

Espero and his men caught Lamaran at the public terminal while he was about to leave for General Santos City, carrying a bag that yielded P10,000 worth of shabu.

He said they tracked down Lamaran after they were informed that he had procured shabu from supplier here.

Lamaran reportedly introduced himself as an employee of the Sarangani provincial government.

He was arrested together with a certain Digna Macberol, who also yielded shabu, Espero said.
