ILAGAN, Isabela Gov. Grace Padaca has withdrawn her plan to file tax evasion cases against seven Isabela mayors for non-remittance of the real property tax collections of their towns since 2004.
This, as the treasurers of the towns of Ilagan, Alicia, Angadanan, Cordon, Naguilian, Quezon and San Isidro, after consultations with their mayors and provincial officials, agreed to remit the real property taxes in monthly installments.
Earlier, the mayors of these towns led by Alicia Mayor Napoleon Dy, president of the provincial mayors league, said they were willing to face Padaca in court if she would push through with her threat of filing cases against them.
Padaca said she decided to shelve the filing of the court case after the mayors changed their minds and decided to remit the tax collections.
