‘Tahong’ kills 3

-
LEGAZPI CITY — A one-year-old infant and two children aged five and six died while 19 others were hospitalized after eating tahong (mussel) in Sorsogon City the other day, authorities said.

The incident prompted the Sorsogon City health office to warn residents against eating tahong.

Noel Pura, head of the provincial disaster management office, said the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources is studying if the poisoning was due to red tide contamination. — Celso Amo
