GMA, Josons to lead ‘Unang Sigaw’ rites

-
PALAYAN CITY, Nueva Ecija — President Arroyo and one of her staunchest political allies, the Josons, will lead some 4,000 Novo Ecijanos in commemorating the 110th anniversary of the Unang Sigaw ng Nueva Ecija (First Cry of Nueva Ecija) here today.

Gov. Tomas Joson III, his younger brother Vice Gov. Mariano Cristino Joson and his son, senior board member Edward Thomas Joson, will welcome the President at the spanking Nueva Ecija Convention Center, where the anniversary rites, which carry the theme Malaya at Nagkakaisang Mamamayan, Pundasyon ng Maunlad at Matatag na Pamahalaan (Free and United Citizenry, Foundation of Progressive and Solid Government), will be held.

Oscar Nieves, provincial public information chief and concurrent manager of radio station dwNE, said among the main highlights of today’s celebration are the awarding of the Tanging Anak ng Nueva Ecija and a fund-raising concert by the Manila Symphony Orchestra.

Separate commemorative rites will be held in the historic town of San Isidro and in the nearby town of Cabiao. — Manny Galvez
