Central Luzon needs 350 new policemen

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — The Police Regional Office-3 (PRO3) yesterday said it needs 350 new police recruits this year.

Senior Superintendent Alfredo Caballes, of the PRO3’s Regional Personnel and Human Resource Division, said that college graduates, aged 21 to 30 years old, may apply.

He added that applicants must be Filipino citizens and at least 5’2" and 5’4" tall (for female and male applicants, respectively). They need to pass the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) police entrance examination, and all screenings and interviews.

The additional recruitment quota is in compliance with the directive of President Arroyo to increase the police force in the entire country by at least 15,000 in the next five years, said Chief Superintendent Ismael Rafanan, PRO3 police director.

Rafanan said that 15 percent of the quota will be allotted to female applicants, who will be assigned at women’s desks of municipal police stations.

The PRO3 has already sent notice to the different provincial and city police offices in Central Luzon so that they can start processing and screening applicants. The target is to be able to submit recommendations to the chairman of the screening and selection committee not later than Aug. 15.

The tentative oath taking of the 350 new police recruits is set on Nov. 6, 2006. — Ric Sapnu
