Kidnap gang leader nabbed in Caraga

BUTUAN CITY — One of the kidnap-for-ransom gang leaders based in Bulacan, who is listed as the country’s most wanted, was arrested by joint intelligence operatives of the Caraga police, the Philippine Army and the Presidential Anti-Crime Emergency Response (PACER) yesterday at Purok 6, Barangay Tagoyango, Sibagat, Agusan del Sur.

Caraga Police regional director Chief Superintendent Antonio Dator Nanas, identified the gang leader as Alvin Tura, who carries a P500,000 bounty on his head.

Nanas told The STAR that Tura and two other suspects were responsible for the kidnapping of Metro Manila traders Jessica Ang, Jansen Co and Cebio Cawili in September 2001.

The victims’ families reportedly paid a ransom of P2.5 million.

According to Nanas, Tura’s arrest was made by virtue of arrest warrants issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 11 Judge Basilio Ricabo Jr. of Malolos, Bulacan.

The three other suspects in the kdnapping case, who were all companions of Tura, were identified as Aljon Ramos Martinez, Silverio Superable and Sustiguer Isaac.Ben Serrano
