12 roads closed due to floods

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has ordered the closure of 12 roads in four regions, including Metro Manila, to vehicular traffic due to heavy floods.

In a travel advisory yesterday, the DPWH’s public information division said three of these roads are in Metro Manila, four in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), four in Central Luzon (Region 3), and one in Central Visayas (Region 7).

These roads have been impassable to vehicular traffic since Wednesday afternoon.

The affected roads in Metro Manila are all in Valenzuela City: M. H. del Pilar street in Barangay Mabolo; Sanciangco street corner LTO along Gov. W. Pascual Avenue, and portions of M.H. del Pilar street from San Vicente VII to Mesina and Sanchez streets in Sitio Rosal, and Angela Street to Panghulo Road.

In the CAR, the Abra-Ilocos Norte Road in Barangay Calaba was closed to traffic due to the swelling of the Abra River.

The Wangwang section of the Banaue-Benguet Road in Ifugao, on the other hand, remains impassable due to landslides in the area.

Two other roads in Mt. Province were closed also due to landslides: the Kabogbojan section of the Abra-Ilocos Norte Road, and P. Burgos street.

Motorists were advised to take Lower P. Burgos street and a portion of Upper P. Burgos street and Upper Magsaysay Road as alternate routes.

In Pampanga, the DPWH closed the Candaba-San Miguel Road in Barangay Mangumbali; the Baliwag-Candaba-Sta. Ana Road in Barangay Paliqui; and the Apalit-Macabebe-Masantol Road in Barangay Sta. Rita.

The Sta. Ana-Sto. Domingo-San Luis Road is being used as an alternate route.

Also declared impassable in Region 3 due to floods was the Layac section of the Gapan-San Fernando-Olongapo Road in Bataan.

In Cebu, meanwhile, the Natalio Bacalso Avenue in Boljoon town was still closed to vehicular traffic as of yesterday afternoon due to flooding in the area.
