COTABATO CITY Muslim guerrillas arrested and turned over to the Sarangani police last Friday a man wanted for a string of rape cases in keeping with a low-level scheme on the arrest of criminals between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
The suspect, Antonio Peralta, was nabbed in Sapu Masla, a known rebel stronghold in Glan. He was implicated in nine rape cases, the most recent of which involved a nine-year-old girl.
Sarangani Gov. Miguel Rene Dominguez himself presented Peralta to reporters and Glan officials while attending the founding anniversary of one of the barangays there.
The MILF rebels, led by Commander Bujar, arrested Peralta with the help of Muslim and Christian farmers in Sapu Masla.
Bujar and his men immediately turned over Peralta to Dominguez in the presence of representatives of the Malaysian-led international team helping monitor the ceasefire between military and MILF forces. John Unson
