‘Triggerman’ in Digos radioman’s slay falls

- Joseph Lawrence Garcia -
DAVAO CITY — Police have arrested the alleged triggerman in the killing of Digos City radio broadcaster Armando "Racman" Pace.

Regional police director Rocardo Quinto said a very credible witness has positively identified Joy Anticamara, alias Tungol, as the one who shot Pace while he was on his way home last Tuesday.

Elements of the local Criminal Investigation and Detection Group nabbed Anticamara at Junsay Subdivision in Digos City Thursday afternoon.

Police raided the suspect’s residence the previous day but he was not around.

Police said their witness was only a few meters away from where Anticamara allegedly shot the radio broadcaster.

Quinto said they have yet to recover the gun used in the shooting, although they believe that it is either a caliber .38 or a caliber .357. No empty shells were found in the crime scene.

"The suspect is still being interrogated. We have yet to extract vital information from him," he said.

Quinto said they were still verifying the identity of the one driving the getaway motorcycle.

Authorities are optimistic that with Anticamara’s arrest, the mastermind of Pace’s killing will soon be unmasked. Police have released Jesus Saruman, who was initially investigated in connection with the crime.

Pace was slain less than a month after journalist George Vigo and his wife, Macel, a radio commentator, were gunned down in Kidapawan City. — With Cecille Suerte Felipe
