Minimum wage earners in the Mindoro provinces, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan, collectively known as Mimaropa (Region 4-B), will receive an increase of P6 to P14 in their basic pay.
Under Wage Order No. 2, non-agricultural workers in the cities of Calapan (Mindoro Occidental) and Puerto Princesa (Palawan) will get a daily minimum wage of P230 from the previous P216.
On the other hand, workers in the agriculture and retail and service sectors will receive P192 and P117, respectively.
In the rest of Mimaropa, non-agricultural workers will get a daily basic pay of P209 from the previous P197.
Grace Ursua, director of the Mimaropa wage board, said they found the need to adjust the wage level to allow workers to cope with the high cost of living without hampering the growth of business and industry. James Mananghaya
