KORONADAL CITY Two motorcycle-riding men gunned down an official of the National Food Authority (NFA) while he, together with his wife, was on his way home along the highway in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat Friday morning.
Superintendent Teng Tocao, acting Sultan Kudarat police director, said Antonio Madreza, assistant manager of the NFA provincial office, was shot dead at about 7:55 a.m., a few minutes after a car bomb exploded along the main road in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao, killing five people and seriously wounding 17 others.
Madreza was the second government official killed in Isulan town since last year when a ranking official of the Department of Public Works and Highways was gunned down in front of the towns public market.
According to reports, Madreza and his wife had come from the Isulan public market when they were attacked in Barangay Kalawag.
Tocao said the assassins overtook Madrezas motorcycle, fired at him several times, and then hastily left.
Scene-of-the-crime operatives found several caliber .45 empty shells at the crime scene.
