11 dead, 9 hurt in Ormoc, Sorsogon road mishaps

Eleven people were killed and nine others sustained serious injuries in separate highway accidents in Pilar, Sorsogon and Ormoc City, Leyte yesterday, one of them involving a passenger bus that rammed into a truck, authorities said.
Five of the fatalities were among the 22 passengers of an Eastern Samar-bound Villegas Liner bus which lost its course and smashed into a truck loaded with gravel and sand at about 5:30 a.m. yesterday in Barangay Danlog, Pilar, Sorsogon.
Only three of the five fatalities were identified as Daisy la Torre, 19, and Eleanor Quinsayas, both of San Policarpio, Eastern Samar; and Bebot Hombria, 36, of Parañaque City.
Police said nine other passengers sustained fractures in their head and were rushed to the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital here.
In Ormoc City, meanwhile, five passengers of a "motorcab" met their deaths when their vehicle collided with another vehicle in Barangay Ipil. A resident who happened to be jogging in the area was dragged by the two vehicles and pinned to death on an electric post.
The fatalities were identified as Maribel Nodalo, 28; Albert Llamas, 22; Roberto Saul, 24; Enrique Villamor, 43; Teodoro Oleverio, 51; and jogger Marcelino Castillo, 62.
