Baguio female lawyer’s killer gets life term

- Artemio Dumlao -
BAGUIO CITY — A waiter accused of gunning down female lawyer Victoria Mangapit Sturch along Harrison Road here two years ago was meted life imprisonment.

Judge Ruben Ayson of Regional Trial Court Branch 6 also ordered convict Reynaldo Hernando to pay Sturch’s family P308,000 in damages.

Sturch was shot dead as she was about to cross the street late afternoon of April 13, 2004.

In his 15-page decision, Ayson said Hernando was positively identified by the driver of the taxi which Sturch had flagged down along Harrison Road as the one who shot the lawyer in the head.

A vendor in the crime scene also tagged Hernando as the assassin.

Ayson dismissed Hernando’s alibi that he was in Dagupan City when Sturch was killed.
