Tribal leaders denounce rape of 71-year-old

Koronadal City — B’laan tribal leaders in Sarangani province denounced the alleged rape of a 71-year-old woman by her own grandson the other day in Barangay Baliton in Glan town, a police official said yesterday.

"The tribal leaders were shocked and furious about the rape of the old woman. They are now helping us locate the suspect," Senior Superintendent Efren Valeriano, police chief of Sarangani PNP, said in a telephone interview.

Valeriano said tribal chieftain Tanao Tao of Barangay Baliton assured him that once they locate the suspect, the police will be immediately informed. — Ramil Bajo
