One person died while two others were reported missing when a boat carrying nine passengers capsized off Cebu Wednesday night, the Coast Guard said.
The fatality was identified as Ben Bulala, quarter master of the boat, which was sailing off Catarman in Liloan, Cebu to ferry passengers of MT Michael 1, when huge waves battered it.
LCdr. Joseph Coyme, Coast Guard spokesman, said search and rescue operations were still ongoing for Rudy Savillano, the boats captain, and Romeo Sangkap, a radio operator.
Meanwhile, the Coast Guard said a Taiwanese fishing boat, which illegally entered Philippine waters, was apprehended off Maconacon, Isabela.
