Police arrested yesterday a drunken colleague who shot and critically wounded a 12-year-old boy he mistakenly accused of stoning his house in Teresa, Rizal.
The Rizal police command immediately initiated summary dismissal proceedings against the suspect, PO2 Reynaldo Pantaleon, assigned to the Baras town police.
The victim, Ronnie Mamento, 12, a Grade 6 pupil, sustained three gunshot wounds. He is now fighting for his life at the Baras General Hospital.
Investigation showed that Pantaleon and Mamento are neighbors in Sitio Guava Hills, Barangay Bagong Bayan in Teresa town.
At about 1 p.m. yesterday, the drunken Pantaleon, carrying his service firearm, rushed out of his house because somebody had stoned the roof of his house.
Nobody was in front of his house, except the boy who was playing alone. Without a word, witnesses said Pantaleon fired at the boy. Non Alquitran
