Bocaue plans theme park, pyro village

BOCAUE, Bulacan — If the municipal government’s plan pushes through, holiday revelers can have fun and buy pyrotechnics, too, just in one place.

According to Mayor Serafin de la Cruz, many investors have expressed interest in their plan to build a theme park and a pyrotechnics village adjoining it on a 30-hectare property beside the North Luzon Expressway near the Bocaue-Marilao-Sta. Maria boundary.

"Masasabi nating pangarap pa rin ang planong ito pero ang totoo maraming investor ang nagpahayag ng interes dahil viable talaga (You can say that this is still a dream but many investors have expressed interest because it is really viable)," he said.

De la Cruz said the idea of putting up a theme park came to him while he was visiting the town’s barangays last year.

He said he noticed that many of his constituents are unemployed, and many agricultural lands are unproductive.

According to De la Cruz, the owner of the proposed theme park site initially rejected the idea but later relented to make his property productive.

Once implemented, lawyer Nenita Tuazon, the town’s administrator, said the proposed theme park would generate jobs and other livelihood for the people of Bocaue and nearby towns.

Meanwhile, Bocaue will celebrate its 400th founding anniversary with 12 days of festivities starting this Friday.
