CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna Agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) rescued a 15-year-old high school coed from her kidnappers in Calamba City Wednesday night, authorities said.
Superintendent Gil Blando Lebin, CIDG-Region 4-A chief, said the victim, Abegail Bondoc, a junior of the Camp Vicente Lim High School, was seized and dragged by five men into a gray L-300 van while she was en route to school at noon Tuesday at the Rodriquez Subdivision in Paciano, Rizal.
Lebin said Bondocs sister, Karen, promptly sought police assistance after getting a text message informing her about the abduction.
SPO4 Roosevelt Legaspi, the victims godfather, said the kidnappers initially demanded P300,000 ransom, but later reduced it to P20,000.
No one among the kidnappers, however, was arrested when Bondoc was rescued during the foiled payoff at the Calamba City plaza Wednesday night.
The kidnappers escaped after sensing the presence of policemen in the area.
