Chief Superintendent Delfin Genio, Region 4-B police director, said prosecutor Eduardo Logronio, 59, sustained gunshot wounds in his face, neck, shoulder and right knee and is in serious condition at the Adventist Hospital in Puerto Princesa City.
Investigation showed that Logronio was parking his service pick-up in front of the Hangar Zone Bar and Restaurant in Barangay Bancao-Bancao at about 10:50 p.m. when the gunman approached him from behind and shot him.
Reports said one bullet pierced through his nose and exited through his right jaw and neck, while another bullet hit his shoulder and ended in his right knee.
Although wounded, Logronio was able to crawl out of his vehicle and seek help from bystanders, who immediately rushed him to the nearest hospital.
Witnesses said the gunman, clad in fatigue shorts and white T-shirt, fled on board a white unlicensed Mitsubishi Pajero parked a few meters away from the bar.
Quoting witnesses, police described the gunman as 40 to 45 years old, about 56" tall and with a receding hairline.
Scene-of-the-crime investigators found three empty shells and a slug from a 9-mm pistol near Logronios vehicle.
Genio has instructed the Palawan police to dig deeper into the attempt on Logronios life and coordinate with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group and the National Bureau of Investigation.
