Mt. Province police chief robbed, shot dead

-
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — Six armed men robbed and killed the police chief of Sabangan, Mt. Province in Tadian town before dawn yesterday, authorities said.

Senior Superintendent Alexander Pumecha, spokesman of the Cordillera police command, said Senior Inspector Antonio Marcos was walking toward the St. Michael lodging house in the Tadian town proper when the six men accosted him.

Pumecha said Marcos identified himself as a police officer, but the men still took his service handgun and cellular phone.

Before fleeing, one of the men shot Marcos in the chest, killing him on the spot.

Marcos is the highest police official in the Cordilleras slain this year. — Artemio Dumlao
