Batangas escapee recaptured

BATANGAS CITY An inmate of the Batangas provincial jail who escaped when New Peoples Army (NPA) rebels sprung out nine detained left-wing activists last Jan. 14, was recaptured last Thursday morning, police said.
Chief Superintendent Jesus Versoza, Calabarzon police director, said elements of the Special Operations Group of the Batangas police, led by Superintendent Fausto Manzanilla, arrested Angelito Manalo, 22, who is facing drug charges, in Alaminos, Laguna.
Manalo was one of four inmates who managed to slip out when NPA guerrillas stormed the provincial jail and "rescued" the nine activists.
Two of Manalos fellow escapees, Russel Renoso and Victor Saruelas, were also recaptured, while the fourth, Guillermo Martinez, gave himself up. Arnell Ozaeta, Ed Amoroso
