Rizal town to ban KTV bars next year

KTV bars and girlie joints will be banned in Rodriguez, Rizal next year.
Rodriguez Mayor Pedro Cuerpo said he is banning the operation of KTV bars and similar drinking establishments to discourage his constituents, particularly laborers or blue-collar workers, from spending their hard earned money in such establishments.
Cuerpo pointed out that a common laborer receives only a penance for their days work. "The money he gets is only good to provide food for the family," he said.
The mayor claimed that KTV bars and girlie joints are mushrooming in his town and he sees them as counter-productive to the labor force.
Cuerpo said that instead of working and focusing his energies to his daily chore, a laborer usually waits for his paycheck only to "drink the night away" inside KTV bars and girlie joints.
Cuerpo said the banning of KTV bars and girlie joints in his town would take effect next year via an executive order.
According to Cuerpo, he already instructed the head of the Bureau of Permits and Licensing Office not to renew permits for existing KTV bars and girlie joints.
