Suspected shabu lab raided in Angeles

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A combined team of the Angeles City police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) raided a suspected shabu laboratory in an Angeles City subdivision last Monday afternoon, seizing P100 million worth of chemicals and equipment supposedly used in manufacturing the illegal drug.

Chief Superintendent Alejandro Lapinid, Central Luzon police director, said the raid on the house of one Tony Chua, a Chinese national, in Carmenville Subdivision was conducted on the strength of a search warrant issued by Judge Gerado Santos of the Angeles City Regional Trial Court.

The place had already been abandoned when the raiding team led by Senior Superintendent Policarpio Segubre, Angeles City police chief, arrived, Lapinid said.

The police seized 15 pieces of equipment, including big glass flasks, rotary evaporators and water pumps, stored in a room.

Lapinid believes that a syndicate might have used the suspected shabu laboratory to store equipment used in manufacturing shabu.
