Meningo kills Grade 3 pupil in Agusan

BUTUAN CITY A grade three pupil in a public school in Buenavista, Agusan del Norte reportedly died of the infectious disease called meningococcemia.
Buenavista Municipal Health Officer Dr. Ramises Casals confirmed the patients death at the Agusan del Norte Provincial Hospital and immediately lead a medical team to conduct "mass treatment" in Purok Masilab, Barangay Rizal, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte yesterday.
About 50 residents in the patients home village were given preventive medical treatment while another team from the Department of Health regional office is expected to arrive in the area today.
Casals said the patient suffered from high fever, severe headache, vomiting and other symptoms of the highly infectious viral "meningo" disease.
The patient was brought to the provincial hospital for medical treatment two days after the symptoms first appeared. Ben Serrano
