National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) regional director Virgilio Mendez himself led raids at the Cagayan de Oro City market last Thursday and held at least four men for selling the sex video dubbed the "XU Sex Scandal."
The 47-minute sex video supposedly features a former runner-up of a beauty contest in Cagayan de Oro City, and her boyfriend.
Despite the NBI raids, tapes of the sex video continue to proliferate and enjoy brisk sales, according to vendors. Each tape is being sold for P100 to P200.
This has forced Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Vicente Emano to seek the NBIs help to confiscate tapes of the video for burning.
The woman supposedly featured in the sex video, accompanied by her mother, had reportedly sought Emanos help.
She said the woman in the sex video is not her but the other girl of her boyfriend who, she said, is a media practitioner who wanted to blackmail her.
