Abra dad, 2 others yield shabu, guns

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — Policemen seized three sachets of shabu and two guns from a councilor of an upland Abra town and his two companions in a dragnet in San Quintin, Abra last Wednesday afternoon.

Superintendent Alexander Pumecha, spokesman of the Cordillera police, said about .15 grams of shabu valued at P300, shabu paraphernalia, a caliber .45 Colt pistol and a caliber .45 SAM pistol were confiscated from Danglas town councilor Nonito Wilbur and his two friends when they were intercepted in Barangay Tangadan, San Quintin town.

Arrested with Wilbur, 30, son of Langiden Mayor Felix Castillo and adopted son of Danglas’ Wilbur clan, were Wilbur Galera, 36, and Cristine Molina, 19.

Pumecha said elements of the Abra police’s intelligence division and the 1602nd Police Mobile Group laid out the dragnet after they had been tipped off about the three.

Pumecha admitted that the group had been under surveillance.

Wilbur and his two companions have been charged with illegal possession of illegal drugs and firearms in the Abra prosecutor’s office.

On Oct. 28 last year, anti-narcotics agents seized 1.10 grams of shabu worth P2,200 from Galera.
