Cops still clueless on Japanese’s slay

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna — Police investigators are still clueless on the killing of a Japanese national in Calamba City last April 9.

Chief Superintendent Jesus Verzosa, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) police director, said he has formed a special task force to look into the gunslaying of Yoshio Ichimura, 51, president of Fil-Geron Philippines based in Barangay Pulo, Cabuyao town.

Verzosa said the police have invited several people to shed light on Ichimura’s murder.

Probers, however, said the case is still considered unsolved due to the lack of witnesses.

Police records showed that Ichimura, together with his live-in partner, Loreno Espelita, 30, was on board a passenger jeepney driven by a certain Gary Listen when he was gunned down at about 9 p.m. of April 9.

When the jeepney stopped along the national highway in Barangay Paciano Rizal, two motorcycle-riding men approached and shot Ichimura in the back of the head.
