Fare hike in Region 10 takes effect next month

ILIGAN CITY The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said the increase in bus and jeepney fares in Northern Mindanao will start on the second week of August.
Mandangan Darimbang, LTFRB Region 10 director, said they have received an order from their central office in Manila increasing jeepney fare from P5.50 to P6.50 for the first five kilometers and from P1.00 to P1.25 for each succeeding kilometer.
For ordinary passenger buses, the fare will be increased from P6.00 to P8.50 for the first five kilometers and P1.10 to P1.30 for each succeeding kilometer, he said.
Airconditioned passenger buses will be charging a 20 percent fare increase compared to 19 percent for ordinary buses. Lino de la Cruz
