BAGUIO CITY A suspected hired killer gunned down a female councilor of Bantay, Ilocos Sur in front of her family-owned gasoline station in Narvacan town last Tuesday.
Senior Inspector Orly Pagaduan, Narvacan police chief, said Bantay councilor Criselda Feria Bondoc, 32, was reportedly standing in front of her family-owned gasoline station in Barangay Orence, Narvacan town at about 7:30 p.m. when she was attacked.
Bondoc, a two-term councilor, resided in Barangay Cabalengegan in Narvacan.
She sustained a gunshot wound in the back and was declared dead on arrival at the Central Ilocos Sur District Hospital.
Pagaduan said the gunman was riding tandem with a companion on a Honda TMX motorcycle.
Police investigators are still clueless on Bondocs killing. Superintendent Crispin Agno, Ilocos Sur police director, said all angles were being explored in the case.
Bondoc recently closed ranks with Bantay Mayor Chinita Parilla in pursuing a garbage dumpsite in the town despite opposition to it.
Investigators suspect that personal grudge rather than "dirty politics" might have something to do with the gunslaying.
